Taco Rico

Wearing:

Blazer, Dress, & Tights: The Limited | Statement Chain: Bauble Bar | Pumps: Steve Madden | Watch: Michael Kors | Ring Stack: Henri Bendel

Lunch served at Taco Rico in the heart of Doral. Chicken Enchiladas {yum} with refried beans and Mexican rice. Soft Taco on the side. Served with Chips & Salsa.

I've gotten into the habit of working on personal endeavors during the hours of my lunch.

{There is no rest for the determined}

Currently, I work as a Technical Writer in one of America's up and coming Health Insurance Agencies. From Monday thru Friday I am a corporate drone and I perform my duties according to the laws and ordinances placed upon the health care system in the States. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I spend my nights in school & this semester?

{Linguistics and Modern British Poetry}

I am currently 6 credits shy of achieving my Bachelors in English Literature. And after spending the last 8 years wandering through life wondering where I would end up, and what course my life would take...

I have discovered the beauty of IT.
{Information Technology}

And the beauty of my position within this department? All I have to do is write and create documents all day. My own personal niche within Corporate America. It's as though after all these years, my questions have been answered. My position allows me the liberty of being able to enjoy my work, and pursue personal endeavors at the same time.

It wasn't just my career or educational degree I was wondering about though. I wanted to know where my personal life would take me as well. What kind of woman would I turn out to be, and how would this influence those closest to me?

I've learned that this choice is up to me.

I can choose to be the woman I've always wanted to be, all I had to do was take a blind leap of faith and let it happen. My familial support system has helped me to conquer many of the demons of my past -- and this time around I had the added support of my best friend, as my boyfriend.

He supports me and encourages me like not other & he honestly believes I am capable of conquering the world and the world's beyond.

I heard once, that you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. If I acquire the qualities of patience, unconditional love, and perseverance of my boyfriend, sisters, and mother -- then it's true that I could quite possibly do anything I so choose.

Blurred Lines

Wearing

Crepe Pants: Old Navy | Blouse: The Limited | White Pumps: Jessica Simpson | Statement Chain: J. Crew | Assorted Arm Party: various designers | Ring Stack: Henri Bendel | Gold Ring: Coach

So I have no idea what happened to my camera. However, the outfit was too good to pass up and the bright South Florida day was just too tempting. The blurred lines seem to add an overall different kind of effect.

I've always been hesitant in mixing red, whites, and blues {for obvious reasons} but the color combo with the mix of patterns and pearls was an altogether different type of red white and blue that I could deal with, without feeling like a walking flag.

The crepe pants are a recent edition to The Closet, and so far they are {amaze balls}. They're comfy and loose fitting, but also extremely versatile. I've been able to match them for casual outings, office attire, and even for day to night kind of looks. If you know how to pair them, they work. This particular look is comfortable, but still gives the air of professionalism required in the office settings of Corporate America.

My boyfriend made this comment when I was getting dressed earlier:
"I don't remember the last time I saw you in something solid colored"

Prints are my thing.
{The louder the better.}

The more eccentric the pattern, the more I seem to obsess over the print. If I can pair it with a statement chain, and a pair of heels -- I've fallen in love<3 I don't understand my attraction to prints, the only thing I can say on the topic is: It defines me in a way words cannot.

Pairing the chaotic prints with solids and accessories, seems to bring out my inner confidence. The louder my print choice, the happier my day is.

Until next time friends <3

p.s the groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter, but in Florida I believe {summer} has arrived.

Got the Blues for Red

Wearing

Blue Pattern Pants: Forever 21 | Grey Sweater Shirt: The Limited | Statement Chain: J. Crew | Ring: Coach | Gold Bracelet and Watch: Michael Kors | Black Optics: Ray Ban | White Pumps: Jessica Simpson | Polish: Essie Forever Yummy

New York Fashion Week has begun. There seems to be a frenzied excitement in the air as we all look forward to the Spring and Summer lines of our favorite designers. The over the top fashion shows, the after parties, and of course {the outfits}.

Some of my favorite bloggers have already touched down in New York – where temperatures are frigid. Reminds me of my first time visiting New York at the tender age of 14, where the temperature was at a cool 14ºF. How lovely {not}! I myself, am a tropical woman. Growing up in sunny Miami, FL there is not much need for coats, scarves, and sweaters. We do occasionally enjoy the low dip into the 40’s – but nowhere near as cold as temps up north.

Today’s post is dedicated to the frigid blues of the north, with a touch a red for the hot tropics. Interesting, isn't it? How two primary colors can accentuate each other in such a way. As always there must be a pattern and/or texture added to the ensemble.

My pants?

Silky smooth, delicious material you simply want to live and breathe in. Forever.
Paired with a light grey sweater/shirt & classic white pumps – gives off the perfect look and feel for a hot South Florida day.

 {And trust me, it was hot!}

My chain?

An ode to the simple (yet complex) looks of pearls – always my favorite. This piece is from the J. Crew Collection, which just so happens to be my all-time favorite place to buy my chains.

And the red?

A touch of me, in everything that I do. Red is my statement go-to color. I was conflicted at first in incorporating such a mix. However, upon further perusal it was clear that it worked – and made the ‘me’ shine through.
